Made the trek to Elmira to pick up the new van, with the old snow tires howling. Had the old van checked out for what would be required for a safety. Turns out that the front spring struts are both broken although that had nothing to do with the tires howling - more than likely due to the nasty railroad crossing at Gray's Road which has just, finally, been fixed.
We ordered the new van with snow tires on the regular rims. As soon as we got home I drove to Ace Tire to switch to my aftermarket rims (the ones that David figures were intended for an 18 year old) with the new summer tires. So, here is the result. Not quite the same red as Mardi's convertible, but nice nevertheless.
Now I have to figure out how to dispose of the old, high mileage van on the right. With new tires, spring struts fixed and door repaired it's probably worth about $4,000 (after spending $2,500) but fixing those things would be a bit of a gamble. As scrap it's worth about $500. We'll see what happens. ---------------------------------------
The van took all my energy today so the kitchen has to wait a bit longer.
Tomorrow we're golfing with the group that normally goes to Byrncliff in New York State, but this time we're at Flamborough Hills.
