Flameout

As advised, we headed to Flamborough today to golf with our friends (8 couples).  The guys had two foursomes and the ladies the same.

The organizers had some strange plan as to which holes counted and probably a bunch of other stuff which we golfers were not privy to.  At the end of the round, scores were adjusted by some kind of magic and then the ladies had a blind draw to see who they would be partnered with for the day.

Mardi played fairly well, however she made a fatal mistake - she drew my name!  We didn't come in first, second or third.  We don't really know how badly I let the team down because the organizers kindly refrained from announcing scores.

I won her respect after that however by eating the atomic pickle that came atop our Caesars.  Nearly blew my head off!  Maybe I should have had that before the golf.

A good time was had by all though.  This was a kind of makeup event to replace our usual weekend of golf in New York State.
----------------------------------------
I'm almost finished my second reading of Mary Trump's book.  It's just as good the second time through.

Mardi has started it.  Sister Judy is next.  Speak up if you would like to be added to the list.

Maureen has asked for John Bolton's book so I'll get it to her soon.  It's also available on a waiting list.
------------------------------------------
Tomorrow it's kitchen construction and garden centre duties.

Stay calm.  Wear your mask.

New Toy

Made the trek to Elmira to pick up the new van, with the old snow tires howling.  Had the old van checked out for what would be required for a safety.  Turns out that the front spring struts are both broken although that had nothing to do with the tires howling - more than likely due to the nasty railroad crossing at Gray's Road which has just, finally, been fixed.

We ordered the new van with snow tires on the regular rims.  As soon as we got home I drove to Ace Tire to switch to my aftermarket rims (the ones that David figures were intended for an 18 year old) with the new summer tires.  So, here is the result.  Not quite the same red as Mardi's convertible, but nice nevertheless.
Now I have to figure out how to dispose of the old, high mileage van on the right.  With new tires, spring struts fixed and door repaired it's probably worth about $4,000 (after spending $2,500) but fixing those things would be a bit of a gamble.  As scrap it's worth about $500.  We'll see what happens.
---------------------------------------
The van took all my energy today so the kitchen has to wait a bit longer.

Tomorrow we're golfing with the group that normally goes to Byrncliff in New York State, but this time we're at Flamborough Hills.
----------------------------------------
Stay well.

Nothing Much

Spent an hour and a half at the greenhouse pulling weeds in the front gardens, but the heat eventually drove me home.
---------------------------------------
The side panels for the second set of drawers have been painted.  Tomorrow late afternoon I'll try to put it all together.
----------------------------------------
After Mardi does her weekly choir service taping tomorrow morning we'll head for Elmira to pick up the new van.

The old van currently has the old snow tires on it, getting ready to sell.  There is enough tread to be safe, but the soft layer has worn off, so they sound like monster tires on the road.  Told Mardi to take ear plugs for the ride.
-----------------------------------------
Stay safe.  Wear your mask.  Be nice.

They Lied!

Headed for golf this morning and noticed when I passed by Snyder's that there were about half a dozen people lined up, even though the place hadn't opened yet.  Looked at the sign and the "More Corn Thursday" sign had been removed.

On the way home they were indeed open, so I picked up four dozen (14 is a Snyder dozen) for us and the freezer (Kathryn, I'll pick some up for you next time).
-------------------------------------------
At the golf course, we had our usual fun day.  Nuff said.
-------------------------------------------
Last night we watched "You are here: a come from away" on CTV.
Great show, about the role of the people of Gander as they took in thousands of U.S. travelers after 9/11.  Lots of interviews and it ended with the production and success of the musical "Come From Away".  Some tear-jerker moments for sure.
--------------------------------------------
Stay well.

Tragedy

Did some errands this morning before heading to the greenhouse to cut the frame pieces for the second set of drawers.  Temperature 35 C.

Came home to discover that Mardi had been working hard in the heat too - vacuuming.
That Roomba really keeps you hopping!
-----------------------------------------
The following was sent to me by Mardi's brother Steve:

Donald Trump was visiting a primary school in Orlando and visited a grade four class. They were in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings.
The teacher asked Mr.Trump if he would like to lead the discussion on the word 'tragedy.' So our illustrious Republican candidate asked the class for an example of a 'tragedy'.
One little boy stood up and offered: "If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs him over and kills him, that would be a tragedy."
"No," said Trump, "that would be an accident."
A little girl raised her hand: "If a school bus carrying 50 children drove off a cliff, killing everyone, that would be a tragedy."
"I'm afraid not," explained Trump. "That's what we would call great loss."
The room went silent. No other child volunteered. Trump searched the room.
"Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?"
Finally at the back of the room, Little Johnny raised his hand. The teacher held her breath.
In a quiet voice he said: "If the plane carrying you was struck by a 'friendly fire' missile and blown to smithereens that would be a tragedy."
"Fantastic!" exclaimed Trump, "That's right. And can you tell me why that would be a tragedy?"
"Well," says Johnny, "It has to be a tragedy, because it sure as hell wouldn't be a great loss... and you can bet your sweet ass it wouldn't be an accident either!"
The teacher left the room..

Golf tomorrow.  Stay well.

Devastating News

We intended to stop in at Snyder's for corn on the way to MontHill to golf with Rada and John.  This is awful!
They sold that much corn in three days!  Usually takes them about a week.  This is definitely awful!
I hate to think about driving past on Tuesday and not being able to stop for corn.  We'll definitely be out on Thursday- early!
----------------------------------------------
The golf weather was pretty awful too.  One of the hottest days so far this year.

But, we were with nice people - well Rada is nice.
And she has good golf form.
John on the other hand.
He did have some fun though.
Hate to point this out, but the ball is still there John!
Hard to believe he beat me isn't it?  The major difference?  I chose to hit much bigger trees - many of them.  As usual, Mardi showed no mercy either.

At the end of the day though we were still having fun.
A nice day with good friends!
----------------------------------------
Here's something that should make you proud of our military:

The Royal Canadian Navy's deputy commander has responded to a series of online posts criticizing the military's plan to drop the term "seaman" by warning that there is no place in the force for sailors who subscribe to "hateful, misogynistic and racist" beliefs.
Rear Admiral Chris Sutherland issued the admonition in a Facebook post over the weekend as sailors and members of the public are being asked to vote on a new title for the navy's most junior members by replacing "seaman" with a more gender-neutral term.

"To those of you currently serving with these beliefs, I would like to emphatically state you have no place in our navy," Sutherland said. "If you cannot live by or support the values of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, then you cannot defend them."
(underlining is mine - what a statement!)
Another small step for mankind.  It reminds me of the small kerfuffle when the national anthem was changed from "in all our sons command" to "in all of us command".
-----------------------------------------------
Stay safe.  Be kind.  Wear your mask.

Travel

Slow day today.  Painted drawers, cut grass, cleaned out the van.  Nothing newsworthy.  So I've included a news article forwarded to me by John Buckley.

It's regarding Americans wanting to come to Canada, and the Canadian reaction.

How many of you plan to visit the U.S. in the next few months?  Not us - this will be our first Canadian winter in a few years.  I'm getting a newer van next week and I've ordered snow tires - first time in the same few years.

-----------------------------------------
We're in this for the long haul.  Wear your mask.

Barry Is Older Than Our HVAC System

Today, Barry is the birthday boy.  Congratulations!

As an aside, the water in the Cointreau bottle story is a Fishguts legend, far more interesting than a normal cocktail party.  And I agree with Barry that Michael and Matthew weren't responsible, they're good kids (young men now).  More likely one of their friends was the culprit.

Matthew worked for me a few years ago when I was running David's garden centre down front - smart, interested and great with the customers.

Have a great day Barry!  Say hi to the boys for me.
---------------------------------------------------
Our HVAC system is original which makes it about 50 years old.  Still working fine - a new one might be a bit quieter but our hearing is going anyway so not a problem.

To make sure it lasts for a few more years we have Shipton's do an annual maintenance.  Today was the day.
Apparently, the HVAC system was specifically built for this building and one in Burlington.  Replacements are a special order.  As are the filters, at about $30 per.  They're 21 X 22, an unusual size.
-----------------------------------------
One of the kitchen drawers in the second section has been glued.  Painting will follow.
------------------------------------------
Tomorrow, Sean and I are going to fix the mower and I'll cut the weeds.  Gluing and painting the other two drawers will be a weekend project.
-------------------------------------------
Wear your mask.  Smile (even though we can only see the smile lines).  Makes you feel good.

More Small Steps For The Kitchen

The final paragraphs in the prologue to Mary Trump's book read:
"Donald has always needed to perpetuate the fiction my grandfather started that he is strong, smart and otherwise extraordinary, because facing the truth - that he is none of these things - is too terrifying for him to contemplate.
Donald, following the lead of my grandfather and with the complicity, silence, and inaction of his siblings, destroyed my father.  I can't let him destroy my country."

Fascinating reading!
--------------------------------------
Sure enough, the outside work hit our balcony today.

High pressure water spray broke off the loose pieces from the ceiling.

They'll be back to fix things later in the process.

The hopeful news is that the high pressure water spray has blasted the spiders off the balcony as well.
---------------------------------------------
Mardi and I saw some really nice drawer handles at Lowe's - red ones that matched the door knobs we currently have.  But they were priced between $38 and $50 each and on special order.  We need nine, so we would be talking in the order of $400 for handles for six drawers.  Not going to happen!  But the salesman had a suggestion - why not buy cheaper white ones for $3 each and paint them?

So that's what we did.

Looks good so far!
----------------------------------------------
Bought the wood for the remaining three drawers and cut them for assembly.  Slow progress but progress nonetheless.
----------------------------------------------
Tomorrow we have another birthday to celebrate, and a furnace cleaning is on the agenda.

Stay well.  Stay safe.  Stay Canadian.

Making Progress

Finally got the first three drawers in place for Mardi.
Drawer fronts and trim will come after the other bank of drawers is completed.  But she can use (and is using) them now.
----------------------------------------
Looks like our section of the building will be getting the surface refurb starting tomorrow.
It's going to be noisy as they chisel or grind off any imperfections.
-------------------------------------
I finished Mary Trump's book, but I'm going to go through it a second time so that it all registers.

She spends most of the book detailing the interactions of the family, the dysfunctions that existed, and the criminal financial acts that occurred.  Her father, the eldest son, was cruelly treated by her grandfather and her family was robbed by the others after her father died.

The last two chapters are basically her doctoral thesis on Donald and they are clinical and devastating.  Fascinating reading!
----------------------------------------
Mardi has been attending yoga classes at the local parkette, but I have been forbidden to take pictures.  So unfair!😠
----------------------------------------
Happy birthday to Angela, Greg's wife.  And congratulations to Chloe who is a new Tim Horton's employee.
-----------------------------------------
Stay well.  Stay safe.

One More Sleep

On the way to the golf course this morning I passed Snyder's farm.  The sign below raised my spirits!
This may be hard for some of you to believe, but this is a more important event than one of Gary's birthdays!  Just ask a Snyder's sweet corn aficionado!
--------------------------------------
The tables in our usual post game spot were all taken so we moved to the thinner air of the second floor patio.
...so we could look down on the lesser beings.
Oh wait........that's Calvin and Matt.
---------------------------------------------
After golf I headed to the greenhouse.  One of the drawer bottoms needed a quarter inch shaved off one side.

Our building has a workshop (which I've never used) but it is currently closed due to the virus.  So, when I need to make a cut on a piece of wood, it sometimes takes a couple of days before I get to the greenhouse to complete the job.  What should take minutes, takes days.
---------------------------------------------
A milestone for Mardi's grandson Ethan.  He's 21 today.  Congratulations are in order!
---------------------------------------------
I'm enjoying Mary Trump's book.  Here's an excerpt:
She always lost at Monopoly when she was a child.
"It was a great joke between me and my friends that I, the granddaughter and niece of real estate tycoons, was terrible at real estate.  It turned out that Donald and I had something in common after all."
...and... "there's no evidence to suggest that my father lacked the skills to run Trump Management, just as there is none to suggest that Donald had them."
----------------------------------------------
Stay well.  Wear your mask in public places.

Reading Day

Worked on the kitchen cupboards again today but didn't get the drawers installed.  Hopefully, Wednesday.  Tomorrow is golf.
------------------------------------------
They're working on the building's plaster outside surfaces for the next few weeks.
They've finished the south wall, now working on our side.  Lots of noise as they chip away, then patch and paint.  Nice to see the building being maintained, but it promises to be a noisy few weeks.
-------------------------------------------
Sister Judy has finished reading John Bolton's book.  If anyone else is bogged down on a library list let me know and we'll share it.

I've now started reading Mary Trump's book.  It's much better than Bolton's.  Here's a couple of her sentences: "Donald's ego has been and is a fragile and inadequate barrier between him and the real world, which, thanks to his father's money and power, he never had to negotiate by himself.  Donald has always needed to perpetuate the fiction my grandfather started that he is strong, smart and otherwise extraordinary, because facing the truth - that he is none of those things - is too terrifying for him to contemplate."

She talks about how her grandfather created the Donald monster.  But I think it goes back at least one more generation.  Her great-grandfather, Donald's grandfather Freidrich Drumpf, ran brothels in the Yukon during the gold rush.  He later tried to go back to Germany, but was not allowed to stay because he was a draft dodger.  Sound familiar?
-------------------------------------
Went looking for drawer pulls and visited two Home Hardware stores and Lowe's before finding something close to what we were looking for.  Was pleasantly surprised to see everyone obeying the mask bylaw.  All three stores had a person at the entrance to make sure the requirement was followed and as far as I could tell nobody was doing any complaining.
---------------------------------------
Stay well.

Hard To Believe

We golfed with Al and Roy today - 11 holes worth.
On the tenth tee, Roy received a phone alert advising that a tornado was possible in our cell phone area.  On the twelfth tee it started to rain, and rain hard, and rain harder with high winds.
Our butts got wet!

To start the round, Al talked us into playing bingo, bango, bongo, i.e. first on the green, closest to the hole, and first in.  When we quit playing Al and Roy were six ahead of us, so I owe them both a beer on Tuesday.  Was this a setup?
-----------------------------------------
Since the sun wasn't shining, the following picture doesn't do the scene justice, but I just love the look of a field of winter wheat that has been reaped and baled.
------------------------------------------
I'm going to include a series of tweets from Robert Reich, thanks to my friend Wayne.
Robert Bernard Reich is an American economist, professor, author, and political commentator. He served in the administrations of Presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, and Bill Clinton. He was Secretary of Labor from 1993 to 1997. He was a member of President Barack Obama's economic transition advisory board.

The Case of the Disappearing Pictures

That was an interesting experience with the pictures disappearing from the email blog.  The pictures came in an email from my friend Wayne.  I copied and pasted them to my blog - I do the blog first so that the pictures show up where I want them.

Then I copy and paste the published blog to an email and post it.
The pictures are still on the blog (dorsalsdiary.blogspot.com) and they were in the email when I posted it.  Google apparently can't handle that process and I had to download each picture and attach it after my loyal readers mentioned the problem.

I'll know better next time.
---------------------------------------------------
This circulated some time ago so you may have seen it, but it's fun to read it again.

... how many can you relate to:
    • Half of us are going to come out of this quarantine as amazing cooks. The other half will come out with a drinking problem.
    • I used to spin that toilet paper like I was on Wheel of Fortune. Now I turn it like I'm cracking a safe.
    • I need to practice social-distancing from the refrigerator.
    • Still haven't decided where to go for Easter ----- The Living Room or The Bedroom
    • PSA: every few days try your jeans on just to make sure they fit. Pajamas will have you believe all is well in the kingdom.
    • Homeschooling is going well. 2 students suspended for fighting and 1 teacher fired for drinking on the job.
    • I don't think anyone expected that when we changed the clocks we'd go from Standard Time to the Twilight Zone
    • This morning I saw a neighbor talking to her cat. It was obvious she thought her cat understood her. I came into my house, told my dog..... we laughed a lot.
    • So, after this quarantine.....will the producers of My 600 Pound Life just find me or do I find them?
    • Quarantine Day 5: Went to this restaurant called THE KITCHEN. You have to gather all the ingredients and make your own meal. I have no clue how this place is still in business.
    • My body has absorbed so much soap and disinfectant lately that when I pee it cleans the toilet.
    • Day 5 of Homeschooling: One of these little monsters called in a bomb threat.
    • I'm so excited --- it's time to take out the garbage. What should I wear?
    • I hope the weather is good tomorrow for my trip to Puerto Backyarda. I'm getting tired of Los Livingroom.
    • Classified Ad: Single man with toilet paper seeks woman with hand sanitizer for good clean fun.
    • Day 6 of Homeschooling: My child just said "I hope I don't have the same teacher next year".... I'm offended.
    • Better 6 feet apart than 6 feet under
------------------------------------------
Cut the grass at the greenhouse for a couple of hours today.  Well, actually I cut weeds - the grass has stopped growing.

The belt that turns the blades came off after I got some compostable black paper caught in it.  So I quit for the day and informed the boss that he had a problem😟.
-------------------------------------------
Golfing tomorrow with Roy and Al.  On the way home, we'll stop at the greenhouse to trim a couple of dividers and the shelves will be ready to install.  That will be a Monday job.  Mardi will then get her kitchen back for a while as I start to build the new drawer section.

The workshop in our building, which I've never used, is closed due to the coronavirus, but I prefer to use the table saw at the greenhouse anyway.  Just do the drilling, joining, gluing and painting here at home.
--------------------------------------------
Hamilton's new mask rule takes effect Monday so get your mask ready for when you need to shop.  I bet there will be a lot of bitching and unrest.  So I hope you all stay calm and cooperate.

Family Time

Met Kathryn and Anna for dinner at the Powerhouse.
Had a very nice time catching up.  Anna's computer game business is steadily growing - awesome!

We get together once a month at least to touch base and enjoy a good meal (but I don't know what those ladies like about liver!) and the wine was good!
-------------------------------------------------------

What a difference the years can make!

 ------------------------------------------------------
Made some progress on the drawers.  Should be ready for unveiling early in the week.
-------------------------------------------------------
Tomorrow Mardi and I play golf with Al and Roy.  Hot and humid - should be just fine.
-------------------------------------------------------
Don't know whether you've seen the pictures of the six year old that protected his sister from a vicious dog and got his face torn apart in the process.  Can you ever imagine Trump doing that?

My conclusion: that kid has great parents.  Trump didn't, but that's a feeble excuse for how he acts.
--------------------------------------------------------
Stay safe.  Be grateful - the sun is shining.

The Birthday Boy(s)

Today we celebrate several birthdays, i.e. for Gary/Sven/Andy/Annie/Arnie/Ned/Fuddney/et al.

I have attached a thread from this morning between Barry and "the group" that tells the tale:

Wow!

I can't believe it's July 16th already and the date arrived pretty much unannounced. Usually this particular date arrives with a rather ostentatious flurry of reminders purporting the importance of this day. Where was that news letter we've come to expect? A definite sign me thinks, of the times we live in.

But, without further ado ...

Happy Birthday Gary !
Hope you have a Fantabulous Day !
Thank you for this Barry - you are one of a select group who have (so far) recognized my special day.  There were a few ‘tepid’ responses to the impending day at Tuesday’s 19th hole gathering  but it passed largely unheralded.

This morning I sent this message to thoughtful friends who, like you, did remember my day.

Hi Mike & Margie,

Your lovely card with its impeccable print-script message was the first to be received by the birthday boy.  It appears the low-key approach on pre-marketing the event I took this year hasn’t worked out too well.  As of this writing I’m at one card and one emailed version of a card.

Thanks so much for remembering my special day.

XO

Fuddney
Is there a mini birthday celebration for each of your aliases too?
Please keep us posted on the cake count this year. I suspect this whole covid thing will negatively impact those numbers.

So, now you get the drift.  Those of you who know Gary and his multiple personalities may want to add your own message so he doesn't feel so left out.

Happy birthday partner!
------------------------------------------
Finished the John Bolton book this morning.  It's a bit tedious and self serving (he's always right), but interesting nonetheless.  You certainly get to know Trump's modus operandi and find out which of the secondary characters have no character (most, if not all).

Certainly with the current "I love Anthony Fauci" routine, while his underlings sling mud at Fauci, the Trump pattern is obvious (and odious).

Sister Judy now has the book (she jumped up from #161 on the library waiting list to #1 with me - it's who you know, and love).
-------------------------------------------
One drawer is now on the paint line.  Two more should be ready for that step tomorrow.
-------------------------------------------
A 73 year old in Haliburton got himself shot and killed by police after he had a tantrum about not wanting to wear a mask, smashed into several cars, and ended up getting out his guns when the police showed up.

Stay calm.  Wear your masks.  Be nice.  Get rid of your guns.

Day Off

Cut the boards for the drawers today, but nothing much more happened.

So I'm taking the day off from the blog.

See you all tomorrow.

Praise Dr. Fauci

Had fun today at golf, even though I blew two Dog Meat chances by three putting.  Good golf weather for a change, as well.

But I came home whipped anyway and didn't accomplish much of anything for the rest of the day.  So, not much real news.
------------------------------------------
In John Bolton's book, he recounts the time that Trump was angry with Justin Trudeau.  He told his sycophants to attack the Canadian Prime Minister.  And I remember one of those attacks which Bolton recounts, when Peter Navarro said that "there is a special place in hell for Justin Trudeau".  Seemed to be way over the top at the time - makes sense after reading Bolton's book.

And now, Trump has the White House attacking Dr. Fauci, and Navarro is at the front of the mob.  What a slime ball!  (I guess those words should be pluralized).
-------------------------------------------
In the past two weeks, 26 airline flights arriving in Canada have brought coronavirus cases with them.
Draw your own conclusions.
-------------------------------------------
Tomorrow I start cutting wood for drawers.
-------------------------------------------
Stay safe.  Wear a mask in enclosed public places.

Happy Birthday Maureen

There will be a bit of a delay on the kitchen cupboards.  Decided not to reuse the four existing drawers - instead will build three new ones the same width as the existing ones, to take up the same vertical space, and then three wider ones beside them.  More work but it should look better and be more useful.  Stay tuned.
---------------------------------------
Friend Calvin sent along a link to a story that was written by a grade 10 Oakville student, comparing our racism to the U.S. (well written and not complimentary).  We also have our history!  Even one of our revered native leaders kept slaves.

A major milestone for Maureen Barlow - her 75th birthday.  The four "B"s and their husbands got together for this big event.

All the best Maureen.  May you enjoy many more!

Tomorrow it's back to MontHill for the Dofasco League.

Stay safe.  Wear your mask when required.

Golf Weather - Finally

We took Greg to Mount Hope airport for his return flight to Comox.  His visit was a shot in the arm for Mardi - always like to connect with your kids!  They had a great day yesterday, exploring for honey and visiting Mardi's brothers and their families.
---------------------------------------------
From there we headed to MontHill for our round with Gary and Jill.  He didn't bite on my tee time scam (Gary had been a bit confused about tee times for the past couple of weeks, so I told him in the blog yesterday that our tee time was 10:10 a.m. when it was really 10:50.)  Mardi and I were there that early because we had  to drop Greg off and I had hoped that Gary would buy my deception, but apparently he's smarter than that (who knew?).

We eventually got to the tee and had a great day.  Real golf weather!

Mardi had a bit of trouble on one of the par 3's, hitting on the far bank of a creek.  She was determined to play it - I was afraid I'd have to go for a swim to rescue her if she swung too hard.

After assessing the situation carefully, she managed to hit the ball, almost to a sand trap.  Next shot she successfully made it to the trap.  Thank goodness double par is our limit!

Mardi was hitting the ball a ton, but the score didn't reflect it, which allowed me to win (I'm surprised the sky didn't fall!).

The highlight of my day was a birdie on the par 3 Gold 3, according to the card a 226 yard hole, but more like 190 I think.  The drive went a couple of yards past the hole and I sank the downhill putt.  Out came the birdie juice!

And, at the end of the round the beer.

We had a great day with good friends and the weather was exceptional!  The way golf should be.
-----------------------------------------
We've made another golf date for next Sunday.  This time we've invited Roy Mandy and Al Knapp.  We were supposed to golf with them next Friday but that fell through, so we've reloaded for Sunday instead.
-----------------------------------------
Stay well.  Enjoy the day.

Honey Do

I think that Greg and Mardi are really confused.  They went out looking for honey - and I was here all the time!
The real thing:
A good imitation:
---------------------------------------
Small progress on the cupboards.  New floor is in place and painted.  Next step - build the box for the existing drawers and install their sliders.
Before:
After:
Next step is to start on a new unit for the four existing drawers.  Won't start until Monday - tomorrow we're golfing with Gary and Jill (Sven and Helga).
----------------------------------------
On the way to MontHill we're dropping Greg off at Mount Hope for his flight home to Comox.  We've had a nice visit and he was able to have a social distanced visit today with both Uncle Greg and Uncle Steve and their families.
---------------------------------------
Hey Gary, our tee time is 10:50 a.m.
----------------------------------------
Stay well.

Friday, July 10, 2020

It's Friday

Tore out the rest of the cupboard flooring.
Then headed to the greenhouse to cut the framing and the new floor for the cupboards.  Bloody hot again!!!

The framing is now glued in place.  Tomorrow the new floor gets installed and we should be ready to start to build the first drawer stack.
---------------------------------------------
This afternoon, Mardi's son Greg arrived for a two day stay.
Needless to say, we didn't get much more accomplished.  Lots of getting back up-to-date on Ethan, Chloe and on Greg's adventures.

We're really hoping for rain tomorrow.  I think if it happens I'll just stand out there and get soaked.  Need some relief from this heat.

The good news is that the grass at the greenhouse has turned a nice tan shade and has stopped growing, so I haven't had to fight the heat while it gets cut.

In the John Bolton book I'm at the chapter involving Trump's meeting with Kim Jong Un.  Surreal!  The behind the scenes maneuverings by all of the players would be laughable if it wasn't such a dangerous game.

Stay well.  Keep cool.
