Hallowe'en

Two special occasions to celebrate today.  First up, Rhiannon's son Lincoln is now nine.  Congratulations young man!

And today is a very special day for Mardi and me.  It was eighteen years ago that I took her golfing and she invited me for dinner - our first date.  Before dinner was over the gremlins were knocking on the door, so I helped her hand out Hallowe'en treats before heading home in a daze.  Happy daze were here to stay.

Thank you my love!
-----------------------------------------------

Mardi's church had asked the congregants to come dressed for Hallowe'en today.  So our construction boss is ready to go (my boss for sure, especially when she warns me to "Be very careful" with the hammer in her belt!)

Looking good babe!
----------------------------------------------
Did you hear about the guy who put up a high voltage fence around his property?  His neighbour was dead against it.

Stay well.

Costco Converts

Headed to the greenhouse, but didn't work - they had another deluge last night.  I think that it's time to start work building the Ark!

The forecast calls for two or three rain free days, so hopefully I'll be able to complete another garden and get the grass cut soon.

---------------------------------------------------

A couple of days ago, Mardi received her new hearing aids.  She got them from Costco and they cost less than one fifth the quote that she had from a popular hearing aid provider.  That's two tense!

And the technician she dealt with was much more informative than the person she had talked to previously.

---------------------------------------------------

Speaking of  Costco, we got quotes on our travel insurance as well.  Their prices are less than a third of what we were quoted by our usual source.  Don't know how they do it, but I've become a convert.  Capital One, you're first in our minds.

---------------------------------------------------

A Canadian golf rookie, Taylor Pendrith, is leading the Bermuda golf tournament by three strokes after three rounds.  I've never heard his name before!  Hopefully, he will prevail in the final round tomorrow.

---------------------------------------------------

Kathryn joined us for dinner tonight, after which she finished a lap afghan she was crocheting.  It will be donated to a local nursing home.  Meanwhile Mardi was making pom poms for the toques she has made for the human trafficking victims.  I was the cheerleader.  Good work ladies!

--------------------------------------------------

And, finally, a letter that Gary had published in today's Spec.

Well said partner!

-------------------------------------------------

Stay well.

Company At Last

Tonight we entertained Maureen and Matt for cards and dinner, our first opportunity to enjoy friends at our house in 23 months.  They arrived at 5:30 and we played cards for an hour before dinner.  That was the best time of the day, hands down.

Then back to cards before we enjoyed pumpkin pie for dessert.

Maureen has had cataracts removed from both eyes and she was right on her game.  Unfortunately, she had me for a partner.

Mardi has also had one of her senses improved, but I'll hold that story back until tomorrow.

Stay well.

Word Games

Runoff from the escarpment continues to flow.  Saw a twig drift by.

Of course, I knew it wood float.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Moved four wagon loads of sod.  Got pretty muddy in the process.

More of the same tomorrow.

-----------------------------------------------------------

We have a misbehaving "Christmas" Cactus.  Last year it didn't bloom at all - probably in protest against the coronavirus.  But this year it is back to its normal Hallowe'en show.

A beautiful display, even though the timing is confusing.

---------------------------------------------------

I hope the rest of you have patience while I play my word games.  Now that I've started burying them in the regular "news", poor Gary and Al have to parse every word to make sure they don't miss the point, which is on their heads of course.

Stay well.

Farming

I edged about 100 feet of gardens today.  Too wet to do anything else.  I tried to make one of the gardens into a circle, but it was pointless.

While I was at the greenhouse I decided to take a walk back to see the stranded tractor.  Conditions were challenging.

But I made it back to the area of the "incident".

Four wheel drive doesn't help when you're stuck in grease!  This will take a few days.

Farming isn't for the faint of heart, and when I see the challenges and, sometimes disasters, I am amazed at David's ability to shake it off and move on - and pretty damn proud as well!  A true Optimist - "Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind".

I sure as hell couldn't cope with it!

-----------------------------------------------------

But at least seeing the fall colours made the trip back worthwhile.

-----------------------------------------------

On the brighter side Sue, our retired school teacher, is getting into her Mazda for it's last ride.  A new Honda CRV is in her future.  Well done!

----------------------------------------------

Enjoy the current weather and stay well.

Weather Woes

It's going to be a few days before I can cut grass or garden again.

With my purpose in life suspended I guess that I'll have to come up with something else to keep busy.

---------------------------------------------------

If you're interested in a breakdown of the newly minted Liberal cabinet, you may find the following article by Don Martin fun to read.  Especially his take on gender parity!

In the interest of better health, or to spare the environment the greenhouse gas caused by cattle, some people are embracing vegetarianism.  I think that's a big missed steak.

Enjoy your day.  Stay well.

Wild Day

Had to go out on a couple of errands today.  Crazy weather.

That's all I have to report, so:

What's the best thing about Switzerland?  Well, it's flag is a big plus.

Sorry folks.  Stay warm, dry and well.

Quiet Day

Spent the day driving to Alliston and then Port Colborne, looking for housing for Kathryn.  No luck so far, but we had a nice day and dinner together.

-----------------------------------------------------

Hey Al, did you hear about the two silk worms who had a race?

They ended in a tie.

Stay well.

Fall Fair

At 9 a.m. David's truck arrived, delivering pumpkins and straw.

His gesture was recognized.

He also donated the plastic where the kids sat to paint pumpkins.

It's amazing the crazy people you see at these events.

One of the challenges for the kids (and some adults) was to fill in missing words in the Optimist Creed.  This young man completed the task and then read it out.  A good way to impart our beliefs.

Sort of like the Ten Commandments.  Hard to live up to, but worth the effort.
-------------------------------------------------
That's it for today.  No word games.

Stay optimistic and well.

Aging 101

Today, we belatedly wish Calvin's mother, Bessie Lee, a happy 101st birthday.  She was born October 21, 1920, but she wouldn't allow Calvin to take this picture until her hair was curled, thus the delay.

This is the first time that Calvin has been able to visit his mom in person since the coronavirus hit us, although they have had regular virtual visits.

Awesome achievement!  May she celebrate many more.

---------------------------------------------------

Another garden finished.  Sod relocated, weeds removed, mulch added.  This one stretches almost to the hydro pole.

A lot of work, but it will pay off in time saved cutting grass.  Don't need to circle every tree now.

------------------------------------------------------

Tomorrow is the Stoney Creek Optimist Club's Fall Fair at Little League Park.  Mardi and I will be there.

---------------------------------------------------

After yesterday's list of warnings, Al Knapp made this comment:

The part that says avoid using names in your contact list that reveals the relationship that you have with that person. I will now have to remove the name "sweetheart" from my contact list and replace it with Bud!!!

I love you Al, but you're definitely incorrigible!

----------------------------------------------------------

Hey Al, did you know that a Cardinal in the Catholic Church is a bird of pray?

Stay well folks.

Good Advice

Today we celebrate the birthday of Mardi's niece, Rhiannon.  All the best Rhiannon.

--------------------------------------------------

Tomorrow is the first day of Hamilton's Mum Show at Gage Park.  Well worth attending.

--------------------------------------------------

We're adding this from my friend Wayne.  Good advice.

1. LONG - TERM PARKING
Some people left their car in the long-term parking at San Jose while away, and someone broke into the car. Using the information on the car's registration in the glove compartment, they drove the car to the people's home in Pebble Beach and robbed it. So I guess if we are going to leave the car in long-term parking, we should NOT leave the registration/insurance cards in it, nor your remote garage door opener. This gives us something to think about with all our new electronic technology.

2. GPS:
Someone had their car broken into while they were at a football game. Their car was parked on the green which was adjacent to the football stadium and specially allotted to football fans. Things stolen from the car included a garage door remote control, some money and a GPS which had been prominently mounted on the dashboard. When the victims got home, they found that their house had been ransacked and just about everything worth anything had been stolen. The thieves had used the GPS to guide them to the house. They then used the garage remote control to open the garage door and gain entry to the house. The thieves knew the owners were at the football game, they knew what time the game was scheduled to finish and so they knew how much time they had to clean out the house. It would appear that they had brought a truck to empty the house of its contents. Something to consider if you have a GPS - don't put your home address in it Put a nearby address (like a store or gas station) so you can still find your way home if you need to, but no one else would know where you live if your GPS were stolen.

3. CELL PHONES:
I never thought of this! This lady has now changed her habit of how she lists her names on her cell phone after her handbag was stolen. Her handbag, which contained her cell phone, credit card, wallet, etc., was stolen. Twenty minutes later when she called her hubby, from a pay phone telling him what had happened, hubby says, "I received your text asking about our Pin number and I've replied a little while ago." When they rushed down to the bank, the bank staff told them all the money was already withdrawn. The thief had actually used the stolen cell phone to text "hubby" in the contact list and got hold of the pin number. Within 20 minutes he had withdrawn all the money from their bank account.

Moral lesson:
a. Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people in your contact list. Avoid using names like Home, Honey, Hubby, Sweetheart, Dad, Mom, etc.
b. And very importantly, when sensitive info is being asked through texts, CONFIRM by calling back.
c. Also, when you're being texted by friends or family to meet them somewhere, be sure to call back to
confirm that the message came from them. If you don't reach them, be very careful about going places to meet "family and friends" who text you.

4. PURSE IN THE GROCERY CART SCAM:
A lady went grocery-shopping at a local mall and left her purse sitting in the children's seat of the cart while she reached something off a shelf/Wait till you read the WHOLE story! Her wallet was stolen, and she reported it to the store personnel. After returning home, she received a phone call from the Mall Security to say that they had her wallet and that although there was no money in it, it did still hold her personal papers. She immediately went to pick up her wallet, only to be told by Mall Security that they had not called her. By the time she returned home again, her house had been broken into and burglarized. The thieves knew that by calling and saying they were Mall Security, they could lure her out of her house long enough for them to burglarize it.

Pushing The Envelope

Mardi spent some time this evening with two of the Junior League members working on the backpack issue.

For me, I spent time today weeding and, after several days, cutting grass.  Cutting grass today, with the wet ground issue, is pushing the envelope some.

I don't know about you, but it seems to me that no matter how far you push the envelope, it will still be stationery.

Did I hear some groans?

Stay well.

Pond Gardens

The ground is still very wet, as you can see.

And, even ground that looks dry is not.

Since Haldimand clay is every bit as efficient at retaining water as Grimsby clay, we cancelled our golf today.  Even if they had enough pull carts it would have taken an Ox to drag them through the mud (no smartass comments please).

Would have been a great weather day for golf, but it turns out it was just as good for gardening - if you don't mind wet feet!

The sod that I removed from around the trees today (four wagon loads) was relocated to this wet spot.

The planter at the other edge of the "pond" contains an Oak tree that an obliging squirrel planted under one of the Pines.  We'll see if it survives the transplanting.

She was only a whiskey maker, but he loved her still.

Backpack Drive

Here's a follow-up to yesterday's Junior League item.  They're intending to fill 50 backpacks.  Maybe you can help.

-----------------------------------------------------

Slogged through the Trillium Hill swamp (formerly called lawn), removed some sod, weeded and mulched.  I've never seen it this wet for such a prolonged period.  The clay has absorbed as much water as it can - it's going to need a week of dry weather to make a difference.

And stay well.

Junior League Assist

The rain, that had mainly avoided us here yesterday, apparently hit Trillium Hill with a vengeance.  The mulch was washed out of several gardens and the ground was a swamp.

I raked as much mulch as I could back into the gardens, but then called it quits.  Didn't bring my bathing suit!

Wow, has this ever been a rainy fall!

----------------------------------------------------

The Junior League of  Hamilton-Burlington is supporting girls who have escaped from sex trafficking.  They are being given backpacks, filled with essential items, to help them move on in their recovery.

Mardi's business has donated the backpacks, and she and Monica have supplied toques as part of the package.

Good work ladies!
Nice picture Jim!

Rain?

We'll start with a birthday shoutout to Cristian Lougheed, who becomes a teenager today.  Awesome!

-----------------------------------------------------

The forecast of lots of rain kept me home today.  Turns out to have been a bit of a hoax.

So I had a haircut, did some shopping and celebrated with a couple of drinks.

Vaccine Passport Time

If you were born between January and April you can download your vaccine passport with QR code today (if you miss today, it will be available again on the 18th).

This is the website: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/get-proof/

You will need your green health card - they want numbers from both sides.

For the May to August folks the download day is tomorrow.  September to December will be on Sunday.  Once again, if you miss it will be available to everyone on the 18th.

I downloaded and printed Mardi's and mine this morning.  No problems.

--------------------------------------------------

So, starting November 8 you can cross the U.S. border by land,  Just tell them that you are fully vaccinated and carry on.  If they send you to secondary inspection you will need to have your vaccine passport available as proof.

However, coming back into Canada, you will still need to have had a PCR test.  Don't know how much that would cost.  Hopefully, that requirement will disappear soon.

---------------------------------------------------

Did some more digging and mulching today.  Noticed that David has had the Petunia baskets replaced with Garden Mum baskets.

They've still got the handles on.  Will be interesting to see if they walk away.

----------------------------------------------------

David should put up a sign like this one.

-----------------------------------------------------

Publishing early so the January to April folks have time to access their vaccine passports.

Stay well.

Rocket Man

Repaired a drain line that had popped out of the ground and split.  Then cut grass for an hour or so.  Got stopped when the mower jammed against a stump that was about an inch high.  I had successfully cut over that stump several times.  The soft ground likely changed the situation.

The mower needs adjustment.  Unfortunately, David doesn't have time for things like this in his heavy Garden Mum shipping season.  We'll see what the prognosis is tomorrow.

-----------------------------------------------------

Watched William Shatner speak on the Chris Cuomo show about his rocket ride.  He was very moved by the experience.  A great actor with a conscience.

That's What I Do

That says it all!

But the golf thing is getting a bit more difficult.  After yesterday's walk, pushing the golf cart up and down over the soggy ground, I almost slept around the clock (other than pee breaks of course).  And I'm still tired and sore.

----------------------------------------------------

Apparently, the U.S. will be opening the land border sometime in November after they change a law.  They're suggesting that you many not even have to show your vaccination certificate unless you get sent in for a secondary check (but you'd better have it with you).  And no prior test needed.

That would take away one of the roadblocks for our Florida vacation.  Some time ago, with fingers crossed, we booked a week in New Orleans and seven weeks in Florida (it was book it or lose it - timeshare).

Next up is travel health insurance.  The cost depends on age and this year Mardi joins me in the 80-84 bracket.  If we bought insurance for the whole 11 or so weeks we expect to be in the States, it would cost  a total of about $15,000.

However, our usual routine is to buy 30 day repeatable insurance.  And after each 30 days we fly to Buffalo, rent a car, and spend an overnight back in Canada.   That restarts the insurance clock and by doing that, the insurance, two return flights and two car rentals total just about half of the $15,000.

Costco's 30 day repeatable travel insurance may be the answer.  Their cost is about 75% of what I was quoted by CAA, our usual supplier.

Next year I move into the higher priced 85-89 bracket, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

------------------------------------------------------

Despite the aged and aching body, I dug and relocated some sod and cut some grass.  Now sitting with a rye and coke and feeling accomplished.

------------------------------------------------------

As Bob Hope said, "80 is when even your birthday suit needs pressing".  Of course this is from personal experience - I'm not talking about Mardi 😇.

------------------------------------------------------

Stay well.

A Walk In The Park

Southbrook wasn't allowing power carts today, so Mardi's ladies group begged off golf.  MontHill didn't allow them either, but they had some push carts available, so Gary, David and I hit the links.  David and I pushing or pulling our carts, Gary carrying his clubs as he usually does.

For most of the time we had the course to ourselves.  And it was a beautiful fall day.  By the end we (at least David and I) were whipped, but the beer helped that situation.

Don't know how many more weeks we can count on.  We're already talking about Florida golf - and hoping.

------------------------------------------------

Stay well.

Thanksgiving

David and Sue invited Mardi and me for a Thanksgiving meal.  Only Ewen was available to join us, having returned from the University of Guelph for the weekend.

He was promptly put to work helping David and me untangle some plastic so it could be dragged to the greenhouse to dry.  It's going to be used at the Optimist Club Fall Fair on the 23rd.

A beautiful warm fall day.  Nice to just sit there after dinner and enjoy the peace and quiet.

-----------------------------------------------

I hope that you all had an equally peaceful Thanksgiving.  Stay well.

A Lougheed Thanksgiving

Mardi and I headed to her brother Greg's and Diane's home for a Thanksgiving gettogether with Mardi's brothers and (some of) their families.  Everybody has had their two doses of vaccine and it was a welcomed reunion.

Daughter Rhiannon and Diane at the feast table.

Some folks did the "guy thing" and watched football.  That's Greg in the background.  Roy, J.J., and A.J. on the couch.

Meanwhile, Steve and I solved some of the world's problems.

Michelle, Reggie and Bonnie.

Gabriela, Rhiannon, Lincoln and James.

A fine holiday event!

On the drive home we got an invite to another Thanksgiving dinner for tomorrow.  Serious dieting is just around the corner!

I hope everyone had, or will have, a nice Thanksgiving break.  Stay well.

Fall Fair

Glad that I cut the grass yesterday.  The place is a bit of a swamp once again after last night's rain.

---------------------------------------

The Optimist Club is holding a Fall Fair on Saturday, October 23rd at Little League Park as a fund raiser.  Trillium Hill is providing some sheets of plastic to protect the diamond and I managed to drag in a decent sized piece of plastic today so it could dry in the greenhouse.

When it's dry I'll bring in some more.

I also brought three bales of straw, that David is also donating, inside so that they could dry out too.

Didn't get any work done though.  Too wet outside.

------------------------------------------------

Stay well.

No News

The ground was still very soft today, but I wanted to get the grass cut before the next bout of rain.  Got it done.  Left some muddy tracks in places, but they'll disappear in a few days.

Otherwise a quiet day.  Stay well.

Golf, Beer and Wings

Our first item of note is that today is Steve Lougheed's birthday.  In his honour I'm publishing a couple of terrific cartoons that he sent me.

I really like the following one.

----------------------------------------------
So, you've heard about Trudeaus surfing trip to Tofino on the day he should have been attending a Truth and Reconciliation Event (an invitation that he didn't even bother responding to until the shit hit the fan).

But have you heard that just six days after his cabinet was sworn in on November 4, 2015 - the cabinet that included Jody Wilson-Raybould as Justice Minister and Attorney General - that her office, without her knowledge, was told to abandon an appeal to get the Catholic Church to meet at least some of its financial obligation to First Nations people?

I wonder who made that decision?  Slimeball!  (Someday I'll tell you what I really think.)
-------------------------------------------------------
We had a great day today, starting with a round of golf at Thundering Waters.  Mardi and I were joined by David and Matt.  It's a difficult golf course, yet I like it and usually score fairly well there.

David found the flaw in his swing and had a good score as well.  But at one point, when he offered to retrieve a ball from the water, he stepped in a spot that wasn't as firm as it looked.

A highlight was the fact that two of us (who shall be unnamed, but it was not Matt or Mardi) got birdies and celebrated with birdie juice.

Overall though, Mardi, the tricotuese (you could look it up) was not happy with her results.

After golf, Matt left for a dinner engagement with Maureen, Jim and Monica.  The other three of us used the vouchers for a free beer tasting at Blackburn Brewery, and free wings at Hooter's, that were included in the golf package.  A fine outing.  Great day!
--------------------------------------------------
Stay well.

Canadian Beer Day

Two important events today.  The first is a birthday greeting for Gabriela Lougheed, Mardi's niece.

The second is an event that Sven likes.

Actually, I thought that Canadian Beer Days were much like Sven's birthdays - you can celebrate them every day.

---------------------------------------------------

Spent time today digging sod, weeding and spreading mulch.  Heavy wet work so I called it a day after just an hour and a half.  It's going to be at least the weekend before the grass will be dry enough to cut.

Otherwise not much news, so here's an item Mardi found.  Lots of truth in this one!

And, one daughter Jo-Ann sent me.

A lot of truth in that one too!
------------------------------------------------
Today we booked a couple of November shows that the Lighthouse Theatre is putting on.  They'll be held in the theatre itself, but seats will be well spaced, as they were in the summer tent.  And vaccine proof and masks are mandatory.
One of the shows is a Norm Foster.  He's an awesome playwright!
-------------------------------------------------
Tomorrow, carts permitted, we will be playing Thundering Waters in Niagara Falls.

Stay well.

Soggy Day

A brave (crazy might be a better descriptive) foursome headed out to MontHill this morning.  To say it was soggy would be an understatement.

In fact, the greens were so wet that the worms had drilled exit holes to escape drowning.

Power carts were not allowed, and all of their pull carts were out on the course.  So Gary and David carried their bags, Calvin used his own cart and, as advertised, I carried four clubs and five balls (I didn't lose any, and found four or five that other people had lost - ended up with a pocket full).  Didn't keep score - turns out that's less traumatic.

We were told to play the Blue course twice, as the other two were more flooded.  Turned out that once around was more than enough.  But we had a good time.  I won a Dog Meat on #3, and we celebrated Calvin's birdie on #6 with some peach "juice".  And then, after the round, the usual celebratory drinks along with fries.

Next week's weather looks more promising so we'll keep on trying.

---------------------------------------------

If you want to sicken yourself, read the following story.  It chronicles Catholic Church sexual abuse around the world.  Seems to me that the church may have simply set itself up the way it did in order to satisfy the needs of perverted men.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/10/5/awful-truth-child-sex-abuse-in-the-catholic-church

-----------------------------------------------

Had an enjoyable evening with Anna.  Dinner, and then cards, where she and Mardi skunked me.  Come to think of it "enjoyable" may not be the correct adjective.

------------------------------------------------

Stay positive. Things will dry up.

Rainy Day

First item of business is a shout-out to my golfing buddies, Ron King and Al Addis, who are celebrating another birthday (boy, they've had almost as many as me!).  Best wishes guys!

-----------------------------------------------

We had a bit of damp air as I left home this morning, but I assumed that I would be able to cut grass.  Apparently not.......

They had a deluge, and it was still raining.  I don't have to water the baskets today!

By the end of the day, David will have to swim to his truck.

So I headed home.  And once again, just damp air here.  Strange!

-------------------------------------------------

No work and no Blue Jays game, so I finished reading the Jody Wilson-Raybould book "Indian In The Cabinet: Speaking Truth To Power".  Heavy reading, but well worth the effort.

It captures the (lack of) character of the fake who occupies our Prime Minister's office (when he's not avoiding the Truth and Reconciliation Day by surfing outside an $18 million dollar mansion in Tofino).

I really admire that lady!

-------------------------------------------------

Tomorrow may be interesting at the golf course.  If they don't allow power carts I won't be pulling a cart - too much work on wet ground for an old guy.  So I'll be walking with four clubs and a few balls.  We'll see how that goes.

--------------------------------------------------

Stay well.

End of Season

Rain early in the day and a Blue Jays game at 3 p.m.  So I didn't get to the greenhouse today.

Blue Jays won yesterday 10-1 and today 12-4, but they needed the Boston Red Sox or the Yankees to lose and it didn't happen.  So their season is over.

Incredible what these (mostly) kids accomplished while playing out of Dunedin (where the other teams, especially the Rays are essentially the home team) and Buffalo (where the Yankees, in particular, are the home team) and finally Toronto.  Moved their families twice during the season and still won 91 games.  Records galore set.  Probably in line for MVP (Guerrero) and Cy Young (Robbie Ray).

Should be a great season next year!

-----------------------------------------------------

Stay well/.

Day Two - Forest Golf

Yesterday, we played the 18 hole course again.  Ron King will appreciate that for the first three holes I had one putt pars.  Unfortunately, it was back to normal after that.

On the island hole that I had navigated so well yesterday, my long drive today put me in a position where a shot to the green was blocked.

If I tried to go under the tree and hit the green I would end up either in the water or rolling through the green into water on the other side.  So, I wisely punched the ball a few feet to the right to give me a clear path to the green..............and then I put it in the water anyway.

We finished the round (I took Mardi's pretend money) and loaded the clubs in the car.

We didn't play the nine hole course, but it looked to be in the same good condition as the eighteen.  As I recall, it is similar to the bigger course, has two holes where you have to cross the creek, but is only 1,886 yards and would take about an hour and a half.  Next time.

For the folks who used to golf in Forest, you'll be glad to know that Andrew, the former pro, is back . He left when the course changed ownership and the new owners, who were hotel people and didn't care about the course, let the course and the dining room deteriorate.  Now, he's General Manager of Forest and its sister course in Grand Bend and things are back to near normal.

We'll definitely be returning.

------------------------------------------------------

After packing the clubs in the car we headed south to Wallaceburg to see our friends Eric and Jon.  They moved from Vancouver and bought this house just before the pandemic and Eric has renovated most of the interior.  They've also had the back yard transformed from a wasteland to this.

Inside and out, the work is HGTV quality.

After enjoying a wonderful strip loin barbeque we said our goodbyes and started the two and half hour drive home.  Arrived in our parking lot at 9:46 and I was in bed before 10.  Thus no blog last night.

Missed the Blue Jays game that they won handily.  We have our fingers crossed for today's last game of the season.  They have to win, and at least one other team has to lose, for them to get into a playoff.

Stay well.
