We headed down to the Monterey wharf to spend the morning at the bay, watching Harbour Seals and Sea Lions.
But first, let's lather on the sunblock.

There were other things to look at in the harbour. It is a busy place.
Including pretend seals. It is a popular scuba diving spot.
Haven't felt an earthquake, but..............
We then headed to Santa Cruz. After booking into our motel we met up with Mardi's cousin Allan Prentice who took us to the Forest of Nicene Marks State Park.
The forest was clear cut a century ago. What we see today is new growth since then.
Many of the trees grow in circles around a huge stump, much like suckers, albeit well over one hundred feet tall.
As you can tell from this picture, some of the original trees were gigantic!
We probably hiked/walked close to three miles in the park. And we walked a couple of miles at the bay in the morning.
Allan took us back to his place for a delicious salmon dinner. Then it was back to the motel where the girls found enough energy to do some dips and dives and handstands (and lengths for Sarah-Jean) in the pool while the three adults cheered.
We said goodnight to Allan. A great day!
