Sanctuary Ridge

As planned, we checked out of our hotel unit and headed to the Quality Inn to pick up Bob Reid.  Then, on to Sanctuary Ridge, one of our favourite courses.

Our tee time was 12:22 and we got off on time, but it was a bit of a scramble.  They were short of carts and we had to wait for carts coming off the course.

It's a bit of a tough course and today that really seemed to slow up play.  We waited on just about every shot and the round took five hours.

And for the benefit of my "frenemies" I lost both on holes and strokes today.  The Queen Bee demolished me.  Wish I hadn't given her that tip that got her game back on track!

On this next hole, you aim over the end of the cart path, 

the ball rolls a long way to the left, and you end up with a shot like this.

Don't laugh at Bob's style.  He shot an 85 today!

This is what the hole looks like, looking back from the green.  The tee is by the trees, top centre.  By now you get the idea that the town of Clermont is in a hilly part of Florida.  When the ocean rises, this area will be an island once again.

One of my favourite holes is number seventeen.  Only 255 yards from the tee to the green on top of the hill in the centre.  Most sensible people play left, hoping that their ball doesn't roll back.  My preferred path is straight at the hole to a waste bunker which can't be seen from the tee.  If I'm lucky I'll eventually get to the green - made it in three shots today.

The round included lunch and we all chose hamburgs with various trimmings, and Pepsi.  One of the best burgers we've had!

Dropped Bob back at his hotel while Mardi and I checked into our studio unit at Orange Lake.  Then picked Bob up again and headed to Millers' Ale House for dinner.  Best baby back ribs in town.

Tomorrow Bob checks out of his hotel and we all move to a two bedroom unit at Orange Lake.  That will be our home for the next seven weeks.
