Settlers Ghost

 A postscript for yesterday.

-Golf rained out.

-Blue Jays game wasn't carried up here.  They apparently blew out the Yankees.

-And Mardi beat me at Skip-Bo.  For the first time since we began play last December she is in the lead for both score and games.

It was a struggle.  Labour Day is well named!

--------------------------------------

Apparently, my Tuesday guys wimped out on golf today.  But Mardi and I soldiered on!

It's not that I like playing in the rain, but the weather forecasters are about as accurate as my driver!  I usually show up and take my chances.

It was cool and the air was damp but we only had a few drops during the round.  You could see your breath though on a couple of the early holes.

In anticipation of my reporting, Gary Parker penned this email:

May I be the first to admit that we didn’t.

And, as it turned out not a drop of water fell in Burlington all day.  Probably didn’t in Caledonia either.  Is it possible that the public shaming you’ll no doubt deliver in today’s blog might be mitigated by this thought:

The Dofasco Golf group faced a cold, likely wet and dreary day on the links today and without their leader’s ever-optimistic, dam the torpedoes inspirational presence they felt ill-equipped to take on that challenge’.

Looking at it that way our ‘wimp-out’ was really your fault for not being here.

They need me!

Settlers Ghost is a beautiful course and it's in great shape.  Lots of blind shots and elevation changes  though.

Nice follow-through.  Too bad the ball went into the trees at the bottom of the hill.

Mardi closed me out on the 16th hole.  The following picture will give you a clue as to how that happened.

Afterwards we headed to a large Barrie mall to get some Sudoku books.  And Mardi found a store that was closing up and purchased a sweater for $5, regular $69.  A good day.

------------------------------------

Tonight, the Blue Jays scraped together a one run victory over the Yanks.  They're fun to watch.

------------------------------------------------

Tomorrow we return to Settlers Ghost.  More rain in the forecast - we'll see how that goes.  We're playing with Mardi's cousin Jill and her friend Ron.

-------------------------------------------------

Stay safe.
