Our original destination was to be New Bern, North Carolina, but the hurricane which devastated the area closed the resort and we reloaded for a golf week in Santee, South Carolina.
Unfortunately, before the hurricane hit, we had booked a motel in Hagerstown, Maryland with a guaranteed (low) rate, which couldn't be cancelled or revised, which resulted in about a two hour longer drive on the second day.
We headed for Hagerstown on a rainy day and the rain didn't let up much for the whole drive. Had a nice, reasonable meal at the Hagerstown Family Diner.
The next morning was sunny and cool, ideal for a drive.
Leaving Hagerstown, we avoided Washington and headed south on I-81. Very pretty, mostly pastoral drive in the morning.
We eventually switched to I-77 and headed through Daniel Boone country.
As we moved into the Carolinas the terrain flattened out and the cotton fields took over.
It's harvest time.
We arrived tired and hungry. Fortunately, John and Rada had taken a more direct route and had just returned from grocery shopping as we arrived. Good planning or what!
But then, tee many martoonies. That's all I'll say about that!
Tomorrow we golf.
