Canada 2025

 We spent our time around the pool the last two afternoons.  And, last night we had a nice visit with Lori and Frank, a Stratford couple who own the house next door to where we have stayed for many months of March (but not this year).  Nothing exciting to report.

But a column by Gwynne Dyer has captured what I also think is America's end game.  So, let's see how Trump is doing.

Project 2025 is the Conservative map for fixing what they believe is wrong with their country.  So far, Trump has been following that map - in fact, with DOGE, going beyond it, and very quickly.

The U.S. debt is certainly out of control, even worse than Canada's.  Their 36 trillion dollar amount is beyond our imagination, still growing, and someday it will cause their downfall (as ours is doing to us in this current fight).

The U.S. has spent billions and sacrificed thousands of troops, as has Canada, in protecting Europe.  Both countries are getting tired (at least some of us are) of over one hundred years of trying to bring peace to an area that will never achieve it.  Europe just sits back and waits for Canada, and primarily the U.S., to protect them  And, if the European countries weren't united in facing Putin, they would be at each other.  It never ends.

So, he is trying to reach a settlement in the Ukraine that will provide America with their mineral resources, and hopefully, that U.S. presence will deter Russia from further expansion and a lot less money will be spent by the U.S. in needing to protect Europe.  Not the outcome that we would prefer, but it makes sense for the Republicans.

Then the Republicans plan to take over Greenland and Canada to create a North American fortress.  He has claimed the Panama Canal and if he is successful with Canada he will also control the Arctic shipping route.  The U.S. has never treated the North West Passage as Canada's, but if they take over they will certainly claim it as theirs.  Then they can hold other countries hostage for their shipping requirements.

Let China control Asia.  Let Putin control whatever he can grab.  Just worry about North America and maybe help Israel.

And, finally, when they have their dictatorship established, turn the U.S. into an Evangelical Theocracy, and begin to treat other religions and minorities the way that Iran treats non Muslims.

And, all those Canadian people who think it would be great to join the U.S. would get a big surprise when they were treated as second class citizens without a vote, and with our mineral and energy wealth confiscated.

This is the grand plan of the far right.  And they are aggressively pursuing it.

And they claim that taking their alcohol off our shelves is "overreacting"!  Not so.  We must do anything, on any front, that is effective to thwart their territorial ambitions (well, maybe burning the White House for the second time would be overreacting at this point).
