G7 Support

 Pretty hot and humid today so we did some shopping and then stayed inside.  Thunderstorm in the evening.

So we played cards and, miraculously, Matt and I are winning.  Needless to say, we quit while we were ahead 😜.

In a joint statement released Friday, the G7 foreign ministers said they "reaffirmed our unwavering support for Ukraine in defending its territorial integrity and right to exist, and its freedom, sovereignty and independence."

I just wish that one of the G7 countries had proposed another statement: "we reaffirm our unwavering support for Canada in defending its territorial integrity and right to exist, and its freedom, sovereignty and independence". 

When it came time to vote, the U.S. would have to crap or get off the pot.  I assume that they would vote "no".  Then we would see if any of our "allies" would stand up for us.

You know, I wonder if we could count on Russia to arrange a ceasefire?

Reflections

 You'll have to forgive me for baring my soul a bit today.  Sister Judy found a copy of our dad's Death Certificate on line and forwarded a copy to Roger and to me.

It showed that I had signed the certificate, at the age of 14, but I have no recollection of that event.  I assume that Mom, who was five months pregnant with Judy, was too stricken to sign, or else whoever brought it decided not to burden her with that task.

Nevertheless, I spent this morning and afternoon, by the pool, reflecting on memories.  A somewhat somber time.

But tonight we headed over to see our Ontario friends, Gail and Herb, for dinner and cards.  A really nice night.

Farkle

Birthday greetings go out to Ron today (not you Fringer - Jill's better half).  Today he is as old as Mardi's score from yesterday  😉.

Mark Carney has been installed as Canada's Prime Minister, with a reduced cabinet, a pledge to spend less money, and a commitment to keep Canada according to David's sign.

So far, so good.

Pool during the day, then we hosted Lori and Frank for dinner and games of Farkle.

Golf

 We  golfed at Deer Creek today.  My score equalled the age I am about to become - and that should have made me feel good.  But...............

.......Mardi is putting for a birdie two, her tee shot having arrived just that far from the pin.

And she played like that all day!  Damn!  We were tied after 9 holes at 39.  She finished with a 74 which is somebody else's age!

Relaxing

 Mardi and I plan to take our time on the return trip this year.  Instead of our usual two day push, we have allowed extra days in our travel insurance package so we can relax and enjoy the unwinding process.

As part of that plan, today we booked two nights (free - one of our timeshare benefits) at the resort in Myrtle Beach where Jo-Ann and Kathryn are staying.  Just one block from the beach.

We'll spend some time with the girls and then we plan to take two days to complete the rest of the trip.  Getting old and tired, but still making sure that we enjoy life.

Go Jays Go

 Today we visited Dunedin to watch the Blue Jays defeat the      Twins 3-2.

  

Nice flag!  And, nobody booed either anthem.

He did OK, but I was really impressed with our D.H., Daulton Varsho.  Despite his shoulder surgery he hit one totally out of the park.  Impressive!

But the Osprey in the upper balcony didn't seem impressed.

Unfortunately, what should have been a one hour and 33 minute drive home took 3 hours!  Painful - but the rye and coke is helping to dull the pain.

Culture Time

 Today we left politics behind and headed out to Winter Haven for an outdoor art festival.  Not quite as big as Mount Dora's, but nice nevertheless.

We spent some time talking to the photographer who took these pictures.........

.........he did some awesome work!  With immense patience, waiting for the perfect moment.

Who will give up first on this stare down?
