Just Another Normal Day

Lori joined us this morning at the bingo.  Unfortunately, we had the usual results.

After lunch the four of us headed back to the lazy river.

You can tell by the expression on our faces that Frank was being goosed and I was grabbed.  Behave ladies!

We were welcomed by this Blue Heron.

.
Beautifully iridescent.

Then Lori, Mardi and I headed to the lazy river while Frank soaked up some sun.  This time I was able to complete the trip against the flow.  Felt good!

Tomorrow we're thinking of playing nine holes of golf.  Life is good.

Stay well.

A Good Day

I know the feeling!

---------------------------------------------

Walked about two miles yesterday morning and spent the afternoon at the lazy river.  Hit the hay right after dinner - needed twelve hours sleep to recover.

Today we're stiff and sore, so we started easy - dabbing...........

..........but didn't win.

------------------------------------------------

This afternoon we were joined by Lori and Frank.  They're from Stratford and own a house in Davenport next door to where Maureen, Matt, Mardi and I rented in previous years.

Here are the four of us.

Oops!

We had a good time swimming, but the fun ended when the Uno cards came out.  Yours truly came last so I refused to take a picture of Lori who was very vicious during the game.

So she had to take her own.

I have to admit though that we owe her a big debt of gratitude for helping us navigate the U.S. reporting system.  Thanks loads!

Then it was off to Miller's for dinner.

A great way to end a fun day.

Stay well.

Settling In

We chose a two bedroom for the first few days so that David would have a place to stay.  Today we moved into a one bedroom in the main building, close to much of the action.  We'll be here until the end of January.  We chose the one bedroom because we don't get guests in January.  We're moving back into a two bedroom for February.  Any guests interested in joining us then?

This is currently our backyard .

We decided to play a round of golf.

Mardi was leading by a few strokes, but she blew up on the 17th and I won by a stroke.  Time to celebrate!

I bought  Mardi a drink too.

---------------------------------------

For some time now I've been having some balance issues, and my steps have become smaller and closer together.  "Doddering old fool" is the appropriate moniker.

But, yesterday when we went to the lazy river I walked against the current for a quarter of the way around.  Tough sledding!

Today I find that I'm taking much bigger and more relaxed steps.  I'll be continuing that therapy!

--------------------------------------

Tonight we're busy trying to fill out the "over 30 day" form.  Not easy!  Any hints?

Stay well.

Warming Up

A relaxing day.   Of course it's hard to do anything else when the temperature is +25C.

So we headed down to the lazy river and a hot tub.

The fellow who took this picture came from six feet of snow, somewhere north of Barrie.

We dropped David off at Orlando Airport at dinner time.  I'm really thankful for him doing all of the driving on the way down.  And we had a nice visit while he was here.

So, we're alone for the next three months.  We'll miss all you folks but it does give us time to get acquainted 😎.

Stay well.

Plans Change

Mardi was to take off at 7 a.m. for pickup by David and me at about 10 a.m.  After several delays she finally became airborne at 4 p.m.

So David and I did a couple of kilometres of hiking at Daytona Beach.  First over to the pier where there were several fisherpersons.  No catchingpersons though.

Then further north where there has been quite a bit of money spent on the waterfront.

We then headed to Miller's (which is at the corner of the Orange Lake property.  After lunch and a Yeungling we got checked in.  Did another kilometre or so strolling around the River Island area.

And, finally picked Mardi up at about 7:30 p.m.

Dinner at Miller's and home to settle in.

A long and frustrating day for Mardi.  I may have to be nice to her for a couple of days.

Our unit has recently been renovated.  Very nice.

Stay well.

Warm at Last

Tonight we're in Daytona Beach, poised to pick Mardi up in the morning.  We dealt with rain pretty well all day, but it was +22'C when we arrived.  That's all that I have to say about that.

------------------------------------

We had dinner at the Ocean Deck.

I think that I have a new project for 2026.  You can line up for pictures later this year.

We ate by the beach.

Interestingly, tonight we are in room 220.  Same number as last night.  That's all that I will say about that.

Stau well.

On Our Way

We left David's at 7 a.m., reached Fort Erie at 8.  A short lineup and 15 minutes later were on our way.  No problems, just the usual questions.

Interestingly, this pickup truck was beside us in the lineup for Customs.

That's Ewen in the font passenger seat.  He and his buddies were headed to Ellicottville for a skiing weekend and somehow ended up beside us.

New York State interstate was clear of snow, but Pennsylvania was in the midst of a blizzard.

We were an hour south of Erie before it quit.  From there until the New River Gorge in West Virginia it was dark overcast and the ground was covered with snow.  After that the sun came out and the driving conditions improved.

We made it to North Carolina (David did all of the driving) and had a great steak dinner at Generations, a family restaurant with good service and great food.

I missed seeing Greg today.  He came down from Petawawa to see Mardi and they had dinner at the Powerhouse.  Sorry that I missed it, but glad to be somewhere warmer!

Stay well.
