The March House

We had an interesting experience yesterday.  Went for a drive to see the house we are renting with Maureen and Matt in March.  Entered the address in the GPS and it told us when we had reached our destination.  Seeing a car with Texas plates in the driveway pretty well confirmed that it is a rental Airbnb.  Drove away happy.

Sent the picture to Maureen and Matt and they pointed out that I had taken a picture of the wrong house.
So, back today.  The GPS did the same thing, stopping at 411 instead of 461.  So it turns out that I entered the correct address in the GPS, but when it decided to trick me, I didn't check the number on the house.  My bad.
OK Maureen and Matt, how about this one?

No car in the driveway, but the sound of kids having a happy time in the backyard pool on a school day?  Maybe a sign of vacationers.

P.S. Joyce, we had to turn on the air conditioner enroute.  Sunny and 21C today.  Sorry 😜.

----------------------------------------

Last night we enjoyed the Disney fireworks from our balcony.

Should provide some fun over the next two months.

------------------------------------------

We walked about a mile today.  Needed a nap after.

Stay well.

Florida Phone

Just a shopping day today, and Mardi's Florida phone number is 321-437-5241.  My phone is now a camera (but it's a new Samsung A25 - display model 😁).

Tonight I headed over to Breezes to listen to Bill sing and play Caribbean music..........

........with my love.

A nice way to end a cool day.  And it will be cooler tomorrow.

That's all folks.

Tough Day!

I was so anxious to have my nap last evening that I forgot to mention what else we did.

If we walk out the back door of our building, we are at the pool end of the Lazy River.  Pretty convenient!  So we did a lap of the Lazy River and spent some time in one of the hot tubs.  Then, dinner at one of the restaurants in the complex and home to bed.

-----------------------------------------------

David and I left for the airport at 3 a.m.  Surprisingly, traffic was light 😉.

It's been a good four days of father/son time for me!  Won't see him again until April though.

Thanks for helping to get us here David!  Mardi certainly appreciated not having to take on the elements on the drive down.

-----------------------------------------------

Had a short sleep after returning from the airport.  Then it was time for Mardi and me to head over for our "owner's update".  Earned us a $120 gift card.

The update guy asked us what our feelings would be regarding Trump's suggestion that Canada becomes the 51st state.  I responded that we don't need Trump - we've got our own asshole.  And we have no interest in losing our health care and dying four years sooner.

Turns out that he's a Trump supporter - he's going to check his Toronto relatives to see what they think 😓 .

Temperature for today and next couple of days is in the mid teens.  Hard to take.  Hope you folks are feeling sorry for us!

And stay well.

Day Two

We had a nice day today, especially after reading about the weather issues after we got through, when they declared state emergencies.

Today's highlight was a golf game for the three of us.  Lots of water and sand on the course, but we managed to finish before we ran out of balls.

As usual, Mardi beat the boys, but I do need to point out part of the reason (other than that she hits it straight down the middle most of the time).  Look at the picture below and you can see what the boys have to deal with.  Now look way over to the right where Mardi teed off - no water between her and the green.  Not fair!

But, we weren't the only turkeys on the course.

We saw about a dozen altogether.

And a couple of Sand Hill Cranes that were a bit too far away for a good picture.

Now, if you will pardon me, I have to grab some shuteye before I leave with David for the airport at 3 a.m.

Stay warm and well.

Three Demanding Days!

This morning, David and I walked three kilometres along the beach - from the hotel to Ocean Deck (last night's dinner spot).........

..and back, past the pier.

Just 13C at Daytona Beach.

--------------------------

We were lucky on Friday.  There were "winter storm warning" signs all along through Virginia.  We passed through at the start of it.  By the end, after 8 inches of snow, Virginia called a state emergency.

The only storm issue we had today was in the carwash.

Yes, we got it washed before we picked up Mardi.

But, my GPS, which was updated six months ago, missed a highway change that cost us about a half hour.  Just added to the pain.

We got here though and here is our welcome to Orange Lake.

The temperature here is 21C and sunny.  Hard to take!

-----------------------------------------

Met Jo-Ann, Kathryn and Anna at Miller's, one of our favourite dining spots, to celebrate Anna's birthday.

A nice evening, but now David and I are spent.  It's been a demanding three days.  But, at least we have an excuse if we don't golf well tomorrow 😏.

---------------------------------------------

Stay well.

Reporting From Daytona Beach

The van looks sad, but it did a good job yesterday.

We tell anyone who is looking that the dirt is from Pennsylvania and West Virginia and not from Canada.

I wonder.  Should I get it washed before we pick up Mardi tomorrow?

Today we woke to -3C, but sunny and completely blue skies.  No weather issues, but lots of traffic woes.  First at the intersection of I-26 and I-90, which is always a mess - 4 lanes of traffic trying to fit into 2 lanes heading south.

Add two accidents along the way and we spent a lot of time stop and go through South Carolina and Georgia.  But we eventually made it to our Daytona Beach destination - temperature +13C.

Had a drink and then headed out to the Ocean Deck Beach Bar, a favourite haunt of David and Sue when they visit Daytona.  Good food, nice vibe.  Will sometime be able to send you a picture of that too - the hotel internet is not being cooperative tonight - it took David and I quite a while to figure out how to get the van picture through.

Tomorrow we head to Orlando International to pick up Mardi, then check in to Orange Lake, and then head to Miller's to help Anna celebrate her birthday.  Should be fun.

Stay well.

We Did It

David and I left for Florida this morning.  Nice drive!

Welcome  to Pennsylvania and the lake effect snow.

Makes for a winter wonderland - and a bit of a driving challenge.

We had snow in the western end of New York State, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, and even for a couple of miles inside North Carolina - a few times close to a whiteout!  Snowy or wet pavement most of the way.

But the Craig boys did it!  Drove 658 miles (sorry, but we're in the U.S. now and they don't understand kilometers) in crummy conditions and arrived at their Statesville, North Carolina destination - safe, sound, sane, smart and sexy!  Well, at least the first two.

Enjoying our first libation before we head out for food.

Talk again tomorrow, hopefully from Daytona Beach.

Stay well.
