Negative!

Mardi's message after today's test:

I can go out and play again yippeeeee.  Still have the lousy cough but feeling fine.  🙂 Now where are those golf clubs???

Thanks for your well wishes.

------------------------------------------

Mardi and I tried out the Crane's Bend course today.  I "let" her win, feeling sorry for her recent Covid bout.  It was a real struggle to play 8 more shots than yesterday to make it happen!  I don't know if you folks have any idea how difficult it is to throw a game!

This time I got across at the island green, but not on the green itself.  Mardi made it on her third try.  You can see the ball just over her head.

Along the way we saw an unusual sight.  A turkey vulture (red head) with a black vulture.  I didn't know that they fraternized.

---------------------------------------------
Tonight we had our final meal with Jamie and Sean.  Food was excellent.  And afterwards we sat outside and listened to a guitarist for a while.  Really glad the Mardi was able to get out and enjoy the evening with us (and take our picture).

We've had a good time together for the past couple of weeks.  Other than the fiasco at Disney Springs things went pretty well.  Tomorrow we mail them home.

Stay well.

Golf and Gators

Birthday wishes go out today to Mardi's brother Greg Lougheed.  Enjoy your day!

-----------------------------------------

Sean and Jamie have taught us a new dice game.  Last night I took the two of them on.  Lots of fun.  Especially when you win both games played.😁  Beginner's luck?  Only won because Mardi wasn't playing?  We'll find out.  And our guests who will be arriving later will find out too - Sean and Jamie are leaving the dice with us.

-----------------------------------------

Sean and I broke out the golf clubs today and played the nine hole Crane's Bend course that includes Sarah-Jean's island green hole.

Nice practice swing Sean!

Unfortunately, the real swing didn't make it across.

Nice swing Grandpa.

Same result.  A foot short.  Sarah-Jean's record remains intact.

Ran into a traffic issue on the way back to the villa.

-----------------------------------------------
Sean headed to the pool to join Jamie after golf.  They wrestled an alligator while there.

Following that, Jamie had an appointment to have her nails done, so while she was doing that Sean and I headed for the nearby Miller's bar to enjoy a couple of Yuengling beers.  Quality grandpa/grandson time!  Life is good!
-----------------------------------------------
Meanwhile Mardi continues to improve.  Another day of isolation and she should be good to go again.

Stay well.

Recovery Continues

Sunny, warm and no wind.  Perfect conditions for the recovering patient to sit outside and absorb some rays.

While Mardi and I were enjoying watching golfers go by, Jamie and Sean were at the pool.

That's all we have to report at this time.  Tomorrow will be another day.

Stay well.

Clearwater

As my lady has announced, she is improved from yesterday (and she was almost perfect then!) with fever gone, just a cough and some fatigue remaining.

So far the rest of the crew is fine.  In fact, we're in more danger from flying golf balls than from Covid!  So far, besides the one that hit the patio door, there have been two that hit the cart path and bounced onto and over the roof.  Like being in an arcade game.  Lots of fun!

This guy couldn't quite hit it this far.

It's a dogleg LEFT guys!!
----------------------------------------

Sean and Jamie headed west today so that they could dip their toes in the gulf at Clearwater Beach.  And they did.

The sand on the gulf side is white and fine.

And there are nice shells to collect as well.

One more item off Jamie's bucket list.

-------------------------------------

We brought one box of 5 Covid tests with us from home (they were free from Mardi's church).  Went out to pick up some more today and it was $24.99 U.S., plus tax, for a box of 2.  Mardi will be contacting Rose to see if she can replenish our stock from Stoney Creek United and bring some down next week.

Tomorrow is a "choice of" day so it will depend on how well Sean and Jamie have survived their day today.

Stay well everyone.

Day Cancelled

Immediately after returning home last night, Mardi was sick.  This morning she has tested positive for Covid and spent the day in bed.  The rest of us are fighting a cold, but no other positive tests yet.

As a result we took a day off from activities.

But it could have been worse.  One of us could have been hit today if we were sitting out when a golf ball hit our patio door.  I got the golfer to pose as if he was going to hit the ball where it ended up.

Danger pay needed!

---------------------------------------------------

Stay well as long as you can!

Disney Disappointment

We'll start today with some really wonderful news that Bonnie has sent us about Mardi's nephew:

"It is with joyful and thankful hearts that we let you know that Cristian ‘rang the bell’ at Sick Kids yesterday and has been declared cancer free!!!!!!

We thank you all for your support throughout this time; we thank the amazing doctors, nurses and staff at Sick Kids for their wisdom and care; and we thank God for a positive answer to all our prayers."

Amen!

Another sunny, warm day here.  And the forecast is for 23C to 25C every day for the next week.  It does get boring! 😎😎 😎😎

But we have had some excitement celebrating Jamie's birthday.  It started this afternoon when she and Sean headed out to the pool to celebrate.  Came home happy!

Unfortunately, our plans for Disney Springs didn't pan out as well.  The crowd was wall to wall, and the entertainment was pretty sparse and mediocre.  Disney Springs is now almost wholly a fancy shopping district.  We didn't wait around for our 8:45 dinner reservation at Raglan Road.

We had hoped that Disney Springs would put a cap on Jamie's day, but it was very disappointing.
---------------------------------------------
But, tomorrow is another day.  We'll see what it brings.

Stay well.

Moving Day

Our big news today is that we got moved to a nicer location.  Single story, with nobody overhead.  A bit better updated.  And a view!  And an open bar!

Mardi got this pic of a red shouldered hawk..........

...........but missed getting a picture of it fornicating with its mate.  Just as well, I don't want the blog censored.

-----------------------------------------------

After we got all settled and had a leak in the ice making fridge repaired we headed out to dinner at Sakura - Asian Fusion.  Great as always.

Then the young folks (Jamie, Sean and Mardi) headed over to the pool.  I'm nursing a cold, so didn't participate.

A quiet evening for all of us.

Stay well.
