Welcome to Snowy Florida

 We picked up Bonnie and Steve at the airport this afternoon and welcomed them to our Florida weather.  Rain most of the day.

And there is snow falling in northern Florida, as far south as Panama City.  Tomorrow's high is forecast to be 10C.  But that's a bit warmer than what they left so we'll make the best of it.

Late lunch at Miller's.  Steve and I had the Baby Back Rib special (sorry Matt, you'll have to wait until March for yours).

Tonight we played card and dice games and when we tired of that, the jigsaw puzzle became the focus, while Mardi continues to work on her third toque of the year.

Tomorrow we plan to head to the Morse Museum to enjoy the Tiffany treasures.

Whiner

 We watched the Trump Inauguration this morning.   Probably more to say about that later.

Then we  made a shopping list and headed out to WalMart.

Mardi and I have different philosophies about shopping.  I consider it a necessity.  Mardi thinks about shopping as an adventure and she does enjoy it more (except when I'm being "impatient").

If we make out a list, then I think my job is to try to find what's on it, head to the checkout, go home.  Is that impatient?  I argue that it's just being efficient.

Bur she still loves me -  she let me win at cards today😇.  

After that we went for a walk.  Just over a mile I think, and we stopped to check out the new "Residences", which are party houses meant to hold up to 20 people.

Quite the showpieces!

Back to Trump.  Watched the whiner sign a bunch of executive orders that will cause major indigestion in a lot of places and with a lot of people.

Tariffs for Mexico and Canada will start on February 1.  We'll see what the response is and cross our fingers that it will work.  Hold onto your hats - the political storm is about to start.

Raglan Road

 I must have woken up in a depressed mood this morning, because this is where my head is right now.

The current talk is about the "nuclear option" of cutting off oil from Alberta to the U.S. and how that might solve Trump's threatened tariff problem.  The folks who think that way are ignoring the fact that the old rule book has been thrown out.

Here's what I think it would accomplish:

Danielle Smith gets pissed off.  So does Trump.  Easy solution.  The U.S. takes over Alberta and they go willingly (after all, they've been stiffed by Trudeau's Canada for years, so why not?).

We lose the revenue that helps the rest of Canada.  We don't have a governable country anymore.  Then they take the rest of Canada over.  End of story.

We headed to Disney Springs in the off and on rain, but had a slight delay getting in when Security identified a strange female who needed screening.

He took pity and let her in, so we then headed to Raglan Road where we met Jo-Ann, Kathryn and Anna for brunch.....with me sporting my David Ben Gurion hairdo.....

........... and with music and dancing thrown in.

I didn't realize how high they get off the floor!

A nice day which we plan to repeat next week.

Fleas and Fudge

We headed to Lake Wales and the Flea Market today.  Mardi wanted to pick up a couple of pairs of sun glasses and some produce.

On the return trip we stopped at Walmart to restock the bar and I sampled Heineken Zero. 

The lady took my picture with her camera too.  I may become famous!

On the way home we stopped at Webb's to pick up some Goat Milk Fudge.  Yummmmm!  Sorry folks, only our visitors will get to taste that delicacy.  There won't be any left by the time we get home!

And that's our excitement for the day  😐.  Pretty boring.  Can't wait for Bonnie and Steve to arrive on Tuesday.

Flog

 There was a "typographical" error in yesterday's blog.  Truth be known, the old guy booked the wrong day.  Should have been Saturday the 25th at Sakura. That will be fixed.

Mardi and I played the Reserve today.  Decent front nines, especially Mardi, but our bodies gave out on the back nine.

On the par 3, 5th hole, I was looking at 150 yards of gorp between me and the green.

Close, but no cigar.

Today's bird species is the Muscovy Duck........

............which looks like it was put together with spare parts from other birds.

Some Favourite People

On the way out of the resort today we saw a Wood Stork convention - ten of them!  Never saw more than one at a time previously.  Birds are sure plentiful this year.

We had lunch at Sakura, the Asian restaurant that we love.  And had our favourite waitress, Joy, to serve us.

 Every table has an Orchid.  Beautiful place to eat!  And great food too!

And we asked Joy to make sure that we have one of her tables on the 24th for our 7 p.m. reservation, when Bonnie, Steve, Mardi and I will join my daughters, Barbara, Jo-Ann and Kathryn for dinner.

I have asked Barbara to order me one of the "Canada Is Not For Sale" hats.  Hopefully, it will be delivered before she heads down next week.  If so, I'll wear it non-stop down here.  May get shot by a redneck in the process, but what the hell!

Tonight we headed over to the House of Blues to see Casey and Tommy.

Casey's music is smoother than his dad's, but he's not nearly the showman that Jeff was.  We asked the boys to send our regards to Jeff from "HAMILTON'.  He'll remember us.

Six Triple Eight

 We ignored the birds today and concentrated on this little guy.

Saw him on the Crane's Bend course while playing with Jill and Ron.  Great golf once again - well done Ron!

Following the golf, Jill and Ron headed back to Port Richey.  We had a great visit and will be visiting them there next month.

This evening we watched a netflix movie that they recommended called The Six Triple Eight.  True story and well worth watching, but have some Kleenex handy - it's very moving!
