Messed Up

Mardi and I will be golfing at Pike Lake for three days, so today was lawn cutting day to make sure it continues to look good until we return.

Unfortunately, a plastic sheet that was hidden by the weeds got sucked up by the mower.  It took an hour of David's time to dismantle the mower deck, clear the plastic, and power wash the deck before putting things back together.  Not good!

Blue Jays won again.  Looking confident.  One more game against Oakland before heading to New York to play the Yankees.  Fingers crossed.

Stay well.

Optimism

Nothing much to report tonight, so I'll leave you with a nugget that came in this month's Optimist bulletin:

"Optimism is a happiness magnet.  If you stay positive, good things and good people will be drawn to you."

I think that means that all of you are good people.  Thanks for being my friends!

Stay well.

World Champs

After I posted last night I watched the Canadian hockey women beat the U.S. for the world gold.  They had been down 2-0 and came back to tie in regulation.  In the overtime period, playing three skaters each, the Canadians dominated.  A well deserved win!

---------------------------------------------------------

And tonight, the Blue Jays won again.  Another well played game,

---------------------------------------------------------

Managed to dig for two hours today.  Isn't September weather wonderful?

Back at it tomorrow.  Stay well.

Golf Day

Back to MontHill for my weekly punishment.  Today I chose the scenic route.  The fairway is about 50 yards to my right.  But I like a challenge.

Got across, but stuck on the far bank amongst the weeds.  A fantastic recovery put the ball on the green.  The highlight of the day.  The only highlight!  Bad day!

-------------------------------------------------

Picked up two dozen corn for A.J. for the cottage.  This will be the last feed - Snyder's expect to run out by the end of the week. It's been a real treat over the past few weeks.

-------------------------------------------------

Looks like we're headed for another minority government in this election.  The only question seems to be whether it will be Conservative or Liberal.  Don't think it matters.  But as long as its a minority I'd be willing to give the Conservatives a chance.  Can O'Toole control the Reform idiots as Harper did in his minority governments?  Time will perhaps tell.

In our riding we don't really have a vote.  It's been reliably NDP for a while now.  But we'll still do our duty on election day.

Blue Jays lost tonight.

Stay well.

Heat Wave Continues

After I posted yesterday we watched the last few holes of the golf tournament.  Then it went to six extra playoff holes before Cantlay was declared the winner over DeChambault.  Exciting finish.  Incredible putting by Cantlay.

-------------------------------------------------

Spent a half hour digging and a half hour watering today.  But also spent three hours on the forklift and mower, reorganizing the skids of soil, mulch, etc. and cutting the weeds and grass that had grown up between them.

------------------------------------------------------

Here's a scene you don't like to witness.

Labour, seedlings, water and energy used to grow the baskets.  Then, more labour, plus diesel fuel in the tractor, to dispose of them.

The folks who discovered gardening during the height of the pandemic are now back to doing whatever they did before.  So plants are not selling right now at the pace they did last summer.  The joy of being a farmer!

------------------------------------------------------

Blue Jays won again.  Fun to watch.

Looking forward to golf tomorrow.  Asked David if he was caught up enough at work to participate and he said "No, but I'm golfing anyway".  Let's have fun!

Stay positive.  Stay well.

Hot enough?

Hot (33C) and humid, so I just watered the flowers and repaired a sign at the greenhouse.  In and out in a half hour.

Mardi and I had talked about going for a walk today.  But, just walking down the driveway at the greenhouse I worked up a sweat, so that was a no-go.  No wonder the people in the U.S. south are so screwed up - this kind of weather makes you crazy.

------------------------------------------------------

Another thought on the half-mast Canadian flag.  If O'Toole doesn't think it should be flown any more in recognition of our native genocide, maybe, as a veteran, he would be in favour of flying it at half-mast to recognize our failure to protect the Afghans who risked their lives to help our armed forces and are now abandoned to the Taliban animals.

------------------------------------------------------

Blue Jays won another close one.  Whew!

Stay well.

Routine Day

Dug some dirt.

Trimmed some grass.

 Watered some plants.

Watched some golf.

Watched the Blue Jays win in the 10th inning (OK, it wasn't all routine).

Stay well.
