We hiked the start of the Bruce Trail today in preparation for our Grand Canyon trek. Ewen carried 20 pounds and I carried 30 (brick supplements). We covered 8 miles in 3.5 hours in about 90% humidity (the skies opened just after we finished.

Ewen scampered through the day - just not fair! Roger had a good suggestion: increase Ewen's load each hike until he can handle about 60 pounds. Then he will be able to carry both our loads and the old guy can coast. Made good sense to me but Ewen was non-committal!
