Shopping

A long day of shopping (according to the chauffeur) but I won't bore you with pictures.

We finished off the evening with dinner at Sakura Asian Fusion.

An Orchid plant at every table helps to set the atmosphere, but sharing with good friends makes it special.

Not an exciting day, but a comfortable one.

Stay well.

Nature's Creatures

Rain this morning and extremely hot and humid this afternoon.  But we brave souls golfed anyway.

Glad we did because we saw some interesting things.  Like this gator, in the process of chewing a large turtle.

And this crane doing his "look at how sexy I am" dance.

Lady cranes are easily impressed.  A couple of months from now this place will be overrun with baby cranes.

And this creature, from the deep.

Oh wait, he looks familiar.  He's an ancient Maple Leafs fan.  Thought that they had all given up on that hopeless cause.  Some people never learn apparently.

----------------------------------------------

It's supposed to rain here tomorrow.  So the ladies may go shopping - for "creature" comforts.

Stay well.

Culture

Today was a "cultural" day.  We started with a visit to the Morse Museum, one of our special places.

Louis Comfort Tiffany was an artistic genius, and the Morse has preserved a lot of his masterpieces, like the Tree Of Life.

And the chapel that he built for the 1893 Chicago World's Fair.  The following picture captures just a part of it.

Stained glass windows were also included.

Commercially, lampshades and vases were where he made his money.

But his finest works were the complete decoration of houses on contract, including the masterpieces that were incorporated into his Long Island estate, Laurelton Hall.
----------------------------------------
Next up was a boat tour on the three connected lakes in Winter Park.....

............to view the mansions of the rich and famous, including the house that "Mr. Rogers" father bought for him - because his grand piano wouldn't fit into his dorm at Rollins College!
------------------------------------------
And then, a tour of the Polasek Sculpture Garden.

-----------------------------------------
Our final cultural effort for the day was the dice game when we got home (we could only fake our sophistication for so long).

Altogether, a great day.

Stay well.

Routine Day

We hit the driving range this morning.

Once Ed got his form back we played Crane's Bend, the nine hole course.

They were doing a photo shoot along the way.

I won't bore you with more island green shots.  But, there are other intimidating shots along the way.

----------------------------------------------

Kathryn forwarded the following picture of her sister Jo-Ann at Raglan Road watching the Irish dancers.

C'mon Joey, lighten up!

And, what the hell are those things on the forks?

------------------------------------

We spent some time on the patio today playing the dice game that Sean and Jamie taught us.

This evening it was Skip-Bo and Mexican Train.

Just another day in paradise!

Stay well.

The Matchmaker

We welcomed the lovely Rose and Ed "the matchmaker" to our abode today.

It's thanks to Ed introducing Mardi and me nineteen years ago that led to some of the happiest days of my life.  A toast to that!

-----------------------------------------

There are lots of things to do here.

Some more difficult than others.
----------------------------------------------
For dinner we headed to Miller's...........

......and ordered the sirloin special.  Just $9.95 with veggies and a side.  Tasted great.

By this time, Ed and Rose had been up for about 15 hours, so we took it easy this evening

Tomorrow we break out the golf clubs.
Stay well.

MLK Jr. Day

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  A hero of his time.

-----------------------------------

Had some friendly new visitors this morning.

Nice to see them.  It'll be even nicer to welcome Rose and Ed tomorrow morning.  We've arranged mid 20C temperatures for the duration of their visit.

--------------------------------------------
Mardi apparently has post Covid Skip-Bo conundrum.  She hasn't won a game so far this year.   Got her on the run!  (I hope I haven't cursed my luck by bragging.  Couldn't help myself.)

Stay well.

Driven

Walked a mile to the driving range.  Hit a bucket of balls and walked back.  That's our exercise for the day.  Time to open the bar.

Stay well.
